أمرافيل
Amraphel, king of Shinar, was one of the four kings who joined forces with Chedorlaomer in the battle against the five kings of the Plain.
Amraphel king of Shinar was one of four eastern kings who formed a coalition against five Canaanite city-kings in the battle of the Valley of Siddim, during which Lot was taken captive (Genesis 14:1–12). Abram subsequently pursued the coalition, defeated them, and rescued Lot in a remarkable night raid. Scholars have long debated whether Amraphel can be identified with Hammurabi of Babylon, though this identification is now generally rejected on chronological and linguistic grounds. Shinar is a biblical name for the Mesopotamian plain (Babylonia), and Amraphel represents a king of that region at the time of the patriarchs.
