Blastus, Herod's chamberlain, was persuaded by the people of Tyre and Sidon to help them gain the king's favor.
Blastus was the chamberlain—the personal attendant—of Herod Agrippa I, mentioned in Acts 12:20. When the people of Tyre and Sidon sought reconciliation with Herod because their region depended on his territory for food, they persuaded Blastus to help them gain an audience with the king. His role as a court intermediary illustrates the importance of royal chamberlains in the politics of Herodian Judea, where access to the ruler was mediated through powerful household officials.
