Old Testament

Tidal, king of Goiim (nations), was one of the kings who fought against Chedorlaomer in Genesis 14.

The Goiim (meaning 'nations' or 'peoples') appear in Genesis 14:1 as the kingdom of Tidal, one of the four kings allied with Chedorlaomer in the first recorded military campaign of the Bible. The term is unusual as a proper name and may refer to a confederation of diverse tribal groups rather than a single ethnic people. Their defeat by Abraham in the rescue of Lot provides the backdrop for Abraham's encounter with Melchizedek king of Salem.
