Unni was a Levite musician appointed by the chief Levites to play the harp as part of the elaborate musical procession accompanying the transfer of the ark of the covenant to Jerusalem during David's reign (1 Chronicles 15:18, 20). He is listed among the second-order musicians and was assigned to play the alamoth — likely indicating a higher-pitched stringed instrument or tuning. A second Levite of the same name appears in Nehemiah 12:9 among those who served in the Levitical choirs during the post-exilic period.
