Perseverance of the Saints

The doctrine that those truly regenerated by God will persevere in faith to the end. Jesus promised, 'I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand' (John 10:28). Romans 8:38-39 declares that nothing 'will be able to separate us from the love of God.' Philippians 1:6 expresses confidence that 'he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.' First Peter 1:5 says believers are 'shielded by God's power.' Yet Scripture also warns against apostasy (Hebrews 6:4-6, 10:26-31), calling believers to 'make your calling and election sure' (2 Peter 1:10). Perseverance is both God's preservation and the believer's active, Spirit-empowered faithfulness.
