Einsamkeit
The painful experience of isolation, which God addresses with his abiding presence. God himself observed, 'It is not good for the man to be alone' (Genesis 2:18). David cried, 'Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted' (Psalm 25:16). Jesus experienced profound loneliness in Gethsemane when his disciples fell asleep (Matthew 26:40) and on the cross when he cried, 'My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?' (Matthew 27:46). Yet God promises, 'I will never leave you nor forsake you' (Hebrews 13:5). Psalm 68:6 says God 'sets the lonely in families.' Paul experienced God's presence even when 'everyone deserted me' (2 Timothy 4:16-17).
