Königliches Priestertum

A title applied to all believers, combining royal authority and priestly access to God. First Peter 2:9 declares, 'You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.' This echoes God's original intention for Israel at Sinai (Exodus 19:6). Revelation 1:6 and 5:10 affirm that Christ has made believers 'a kingdom and priests to serve his God and Father.' Every Christian has direct access to God (Hebrews 4:16) and participates in Christ's mission to reconcile the world to God.
