Versuchung

The enticement to sin, which every person faces but which can be resisted through God's power. James 1:13-14 clarifies that God does not tempt anyone; rather, 'each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire.' First Corinthians 10:13 promises, 'No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear.' Jesus was tempted in every way yet without sin (Hebrews 4:15), and he resisted Satan with Scripture (Matthew 4:1-11). The Lord's Prayer includes, 'Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil' (Matthew 6:13).
