The descendants of Ami (or Amon) were among the returned exiles who were servants of Solomon.
Ami (or Amon in Nehemiah 7:59) was the head of a family of Solomon's servants (Nethinim) whose 232 descendants returned to Jerusalem with Zerubbabel from the Babylonian exile (Ezra 2:57; Nehemiah 7:59). The 'servants of Solomon' were a distinct group within the restored community, probably descendants of the non-Israelite workers conscripted by Solomon for temple construction and royal service. Their careful enumeration in the return lists reflects the importance of maintaining records of all categories of temple-affiliated personnel in the reconstituted community.
