Old Testament

Shaashgaz was the eunuch appointed by King Ahasuerus to be in charge of the concubines in the royal harem.

Shaashgaz was a eunuch in the court of the Persian king Ahasuerus (Xerxes I) who had custody of the second harem, where Esther and the other young women were kept after their initial year of beauty treatments and before being presented to the king (Esther 2:14). His administrative role in the royal household is mentioned in the context of Esther's rise to favor.
