Sexual purity maintained according to one's state of life — abstinence for the unmarried, faithfulness for the married. First Thessalonians 4:3-5 instructs, 'It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable.' First Corinthians 6:18-20 urges, 'Flee from sexual immorality... Your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit.' Hebrews 13:4 declares, 'Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure.' Joseph exemplified chastity by fleeing Potiphar's wife (Genesis 39:7-12). Daniel purposed to maintain purity in a foreign court (Daniel 1:8).
