Discipulado

A formal statement of Christian belief summarizing essential doctrines. While the word 'creed' (from Latin credo, 'I believe') post-dates the Bible, creedal formulas appear in Scripture: 'Jesus is Lord' (Romans 10:9, 1 Corinthians 12:3), the Shema (Deuteronomy 6:4), Paul's summary in 1 Corinthians 15:3-5, and the Christ hymn in Philippians 2:6-11. These early confessions served as baptismal affirmations, worship elements, and guards against false teaching. The historic Apostles' Creed, Nicene Creed, and Athanasian Creed continue to unite Christians around core biblical truths.
