Isaac
The act of setting apart a person, place, or thing for God's service. Hannah dedicated her son Samuel to the Lord (1 Samuel 1:11, 27-28). Solomon dedicated the temple with elaborate ceremony (1 Kings 8). Nehemiah dedicated the rebuilt walls of Jerusalem (Nehemiah 12:27). The Festival of Dedication (Hanukkah) celebrated the rededication of the temple after its desecration (John 10:22). Parents dedicated their firstborn to God (Luke 2:22-24). Paul urged believers to present their bodies 'as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God' (Romans 12:1). Dedication expresses that all we have belongs to God.
