Historia de la interpretación
God's sovereign choice of individuals and peoples for salvation and service. Ephesians 1:4 declares God 'chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.' Romans 9:11 explains that God's choice operates 'not by works but by him who calls.' First Thessalonians 1:4 affirms, 'We know, brothers and sisters loved by God, that he has chosen you.' Jesus said, 'You did not choose me, but I chose you' (John 15:16). Election is not based on foreseen merit but on God's gracious purpose (Romans 9:16). Second Peter 1:10 calls believers to 'confirm your calling and election.' Election humbles human pride and magnifies divine grace.
