Septuaginta (LXX)

Periods of widespread spiritual renewal in which multitudes are converted and the church is revitalized. While the term refers to specific historical movements, the pattern is deeply biblical. At Pentecost, Peter's sermon led to 3,000 conversions (Acts 2:41). The Samaritan revival under Philip saw great joy in the city (Acts 8:5-8). Jonah's reluctant preaching sparked repentance in all Nineveh (Jonah 3). Ezra's public reading of the law produced widespread conviction and covenant renewal (Nehemiah 8-10). Joel 2:28-29 prophesied an outpouring of the Spirit on 'all people.' These awakening patterns reveal that God periodically breaks through with extraordinary spiritual power.
