Eliseo

The ability to govern one's desires, emotions, and actions — a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:23). Proverbs 25:28 warns, 'Like a city whose walls are broken through is a person who lacks self-control.' Paul compared the Christian life to an athletic competition requiring discipline: 'I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave' (1 Corinthians 9:27). Second Peter 1:6 includes self-control in the chain of virtues believers should cultivate. Titus 2:2-6 calls older men, older women, and young men alike to be self-controlled. Self-control is not mere willpower but a Spirit-empowered mastery that enables freedom rather than restricting it.
