The portrait of the Jerusalem church 'continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, and eating their meat with gladness and singleness of heart' presents the Pentecost community as the fulfilment of the Psalms' vision of unified worship in Zion. The dual locus — temple worship and domestic table fellowship — reflects the transitional nature of the earliest church, which had not yet separated from synagogue and temple practice. The 'breaking of bread' (klasei tou artou) may indicate both ordinary shared meals and eucharistic celebration, and Luke's ambiguity is probably intentional: ordinary meals and the Lord's Supper were not yet fully separated in practice. The summary idealism of Acts 2:42-47 functions as both description and prescriptive norm, creating a template against which later church life is implicitly measured.
