Ésaïe 27:13
And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the Lord in the holy mount at Jerusalem.

Study Note
The promise that 'the great trumpet shall be blown' and the lost from Assyria and Egypt shall return to worship in Jerusalem anticipates the great eschatological ingathering of scattered Israel. The 'great trumpet' (shophar gadol) became a central image in Jewish eschatology for the final day of God's intervention — reflected in Matthew 24:31's angels with great trumpets gathering the elect and 1 Corinthians 15:52's 'last trump.' Isaiah's eschatological tableau in chapters 24-27 (the 'Isaiah Apocalypse') anticipates a universal judgment and renewal that transcends the particular Assyrian and Babylonian crises that frame it. Revelation 8-11's seven trumpets draw heavily on this tradition, using the trumpet motif to structure the drama of final divine intervention.
