Apocalypse 3:21
To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.

Study Note
The promise to the one who overcomes — 'I will grant him to sit with me on my throne, as I also conquered and sat down with my Father on his throne' — offers believers participation in the universal sovereignty established by Christ's own victory. The logic is again vicarious participation: Christ's overcoming is the ground for the believer's overcoming, and Christ's enthronement is the basis for the believer's co-enthronement. Daniel 7:27 ('the kingdom and the dominion... shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High') provides the Old Testament precedent for this sharing of eschatological rule. Revelation 20:4 and 22:5 picture the fulfillment: the saints reign with Christ, indicating that the promise of Revelation 3:21 is among the most literal in the eschatological vision of the Apocalypse.
