Lion
A powerful predator symbolizing strength, courage, royalty, and both divine and satanic power. The tribe of Judah is called 'a lion's cub' (Genesis 49:9), and Christ is the 'Lion of the tribe of Judah' (Revelation 5:5). Proverbs 28:1 declares, 'The wicked flee though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.' Yet the lion also represents danger: First Peter 5:8 warns, 'Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.' Daniel was protected in the lions' den (Daniel 6:22). Samson killed a lion with his bare hands (Judges 14:5-6). Isaiah 11:7 envisions the lion lying down peacefully with the calf in the messianic age.
