Patriarchs

4 versets

The founding fathers of the nation of Israel — Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob — whose stories dominate Genesis 12-50. God called Abraham from Ur and made a covenant promising land, descendants, and blessing to all nations (Genesis 12:1-3). Isaac was the child of promise (Genesis 21:1-7), and Jacob (renamed Israel) fathered twelve sons who became the tribes of Israel (Genesis 35:22-26). The patriarchs modeled both faith and failure, yet God remained faithful to his promises through them. Hebrews 11:8-21 honors them as exemplars of faith who 'were longing for a better country — a heavenly one.'
