Disciplines Spirituelles

Practices that facilitate spiritual growth and deeper communion with God. These include prayer (1 Thessalonians 5:17), Scripture reading (Psalm 119:105), fasting (Matthew 6:16-18), meditation (Joshua 1:8), silence and solitude (Mark 1:35), worship (Hebrews 10:25), generosity (2 Corinthians 9:6-7), service (Galatians 5:13), confession (James 5:16), and fellowship (Acts 2:42). Paul compared the Christian life to athletic training: 'I discipline my body and keep it under control' (1 Corinthians 9:27, ESV). First Timothy 4:7 instructs, 'Train yourself to be godly.' Spiritual disciplines are not legalistic requirements but grace-empowered practices that open us to the Spirit's transforming work.
