Bezai was the ancestor of a family that returned from Babylonian exile with Zerubbabel, numbering 323 according to Ezra 2:17 and 324 in Nehemiah 7:23. Representatives of his family also sealed the covenant under Nehemiah (Nehemiah 10:18). The slight discrepancy in numbers between Ezra and Nehemiah likely reflects different stages of counting or textual variation in the transmission of these lists.
