Lord's Prayer
The model prayer Jesus taught his disciples (Matthew 6:9-13, Luke 11:2-4), encompassing the essential elements of Christian prayer. It begins with address ('Our Father in heaven'), worship ('hallowed be your name'), submission ('your kingdom come, your will be done'), petition for daily needs ('give us today our daily bread'), confession ('forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors'), and protection ('lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one'). The prayer moves from God's glory to human need, from eternal purposes to daily provision. It teaches believers to approach God as loving Father while maintaining reverence for his holiness.
