The mothers of Israel — Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, and Leah — who played pivotal roles in God's redemptive plan. Sarah laughed at God's promise but bore Isaac in her old age (Genesis 21:1-7). Rebekah received the oracle about Jacob and Esau (Genesis 25:23). Rachel, beloved by Jacob, was the mother of Joseph and Benjamin (Genesis 30:22-24, 35:18). Leah, though unloved, bore six sons including Judah, through whose line the Messiah would come (Genesis 29:31-35). These women demonstrated faith, endurance, and resourcefulness, and are honored alongside the patriarchs in the biblical narrative of God's covenant faithfulness.
