מְנוּחָה
Cessation from labor and anxiety, rooted in God's own rest on the seventh day (Genesis 2:2-3). The Sabbath institutionalized rest as a gift and commandment (Exodus 20:8-11). Jesus invited the weary: 'Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest' (Matthew 11:28-30). Hebrews 4:9-11 describes a spiritual 'Sabbath-rest' for the people of God — rest from self-effort and trust in God's finished work. Psalm 62:1 declares, 'Truly my soul finds rest in God.' Rest in Scripture is not mere inactivity but a state of trust, security, and dependence on God's faithful provision.
