The quality of God that places him above and beyond all creation. Isaiah 55:8-9 declares, 'My thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways... As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways.' God transcends time (Psalm 90:2), space (1 Kings 8:27), and human comprehension (Romans 11:33-36). Isaiah 6:1-3 portrays God as exalted on a high throne with seraphim crying 'Holy, holy, holy,' emphasizing his utter distinctness from creation. Transcendence preserves the Creator-creature distinction and evokes awe and reverence in worship.
