Tribulation
A period of intense suffering and divine judgment before or during Christ's second coming. Daniel 12:1 prophesies 'a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations.' Jesus described a 'great tribulation' (Matthew 24:21, KJV) with unprecedented suffering. Revelation 6-19 details catastrophic judgments: seals, trumpets, and bowls. Jeremiah 30:7 calls it 'the time of Jacob's trouble.' Christians debate whether the tribulation is a future seven-year period, the church age's ongoing suffering, or a combination. John 16:33 assures, 'In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.'
