मलाकी 4:2
But unto you that fear my name shall the Sun of righteousness arise with healing in his wings; and ye shall go forth, and grow up as calves of the stall.

Study Note
The promise 'the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its rays' for those who revere God's name is the positive counterpart to the consuming fire of verse 1, and one of the most evocative images of eschatological blessing in the Old Testament. The 'sun of righteousness' (shemesh tsedaqah) has been interpreted as a metaphor for YHWH himself, for the messianic figure, or for the age of righteousness; Christian tradition overwhelmingly reads it as a messianic title applied to Christ. The image of calves leaping from the stall describes the freedom and joy of those liberated from fear and oppression, evoking the Jubilee release. Zechariah's Benedictus (Luke 1:78) picks up this dawn-imagery in describing John's prophetic role: 'the rising sun will come to us from heaven.'
