Ishmaiah the Gibeonite was a warrior of the Thirty who joined David at Ziklag while David was still hiding from Saul, before David became king (1 Chronicles 12:4). He is described as 'a mighty man among the thirty and over the thirty,' suggesting he held a leadership position within the elite corps. As a Gibeonite, Ishmaiah came from a people who had made a covenant with Israel in the days of Joshua, and his service to David illustrates the diverse ethnic background of the Davidic fighting forces.
