Old Testament

Kelita was a Levite who helped explain the Law to the people and sealed the covenant during the time of Nehemiah.

Kelita was a Levite who played a significant role in the spiritual renewal of the post-exilic community under Nehemiah. He is named among the Levites who stood beside Ezra and helped the people understand the Law as it was read aloud (Nehemiah 8:7), and he later sealed the covenant of Nehemiah (Nehemiah 10:10). He is likely the same person as Kelaiah in Ezra 10:23, where his alternate name appears in the list of Levites who had married foreign women. His dual role as teacher and covenant signatory marks him as one of the more active Levites of the restoration period.
