मअततअन

Mattan was the priest of Baal who served at the temple Athaliah had established in Jerusalem, killed by the crowds when Jehoiada the high priest led the coup that placed the young Joash on the throne (2 Kings 11:18; 2 Chronicles 23:17). His death marked the end of official Baal worship in Jerusalem during the period of Athaliah's usurpation. A different Mattan, the father of Shephatiah who imprisoned Jeremiah, appears in Jeremiah 38:1.
