Obil the Ishmaelite was in charge of King David's camels.

Obil the Ishmaelite was the official placed in charge of King David's camels as part of the elaborate administrative structure David established over the royal estates and livestock (1 Chronicles 27:30). The appointment of an Ishmaelite to manage camels reflects the practical reality that Ishmaelites were renowned traders and camel herders in the ancient Near East (cf. Genesis 37:25, 28). Obil appears only in this administrative record.
