Rabshakeh was a Babylonian official who tried to intimidate Hezekiah and the people of Jerusalem into surrendering.

Rabshakeh was a senior Assyrian official, likely a field commander or spokesman, sent by King Sennacherib to intimidate Jerusalem during the reign of Hezekiah (2 Kings 18:17–37; Isaiah 36:2–22). He delivered a lengthy speech in Hebrew before the city walls, attempting to demoralize the population by questioning both Hezekiah's leadership and the power of Yahweh to deliver Judah from Assyrian domination. His blasphemous challenge prompted Hezekiah's prayer and the miraculous deliverance recorded in 2 Kings 19.
