Sceva was a Jewish chief priest whose seven sons attempted to exorcise demons in the name of Jesus, as mentioned in the book of Acts.
Sceva was a Jewish high priest (or one claiming that title) whose seven sons attempted to exorcise evil spirits by invoking 'the Jesus whom Paul preaches' without personal faith (Acts 19:14–16). The evil spirit's reply—'Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?'—and the subsequent violent attack by the possessed man caused the sons to flee naked and wounded, leading to widespread fear and the public burning of magical books in Ephesus.
