Trophimus was a Gentile Christian from Ephesus who accompanied Paul on his missionary journeys and was falsely accused of defiling the temple in Jerusalem.

Trophimus was a Gentile Christian from Ephesus who was one of Paul's travel companions on the final journey to Jerusalem recorded in Acts 20–21. His presence in Jerusalem as a Gentile companion to Paul led to a misunderstanding: certain Jews from Asia falsely accused Paul of bringing Trophimus into the temple (Acts 21:27–29), an offense that would have been punishable by death. This accusation provoked the riot that led to Paul's arrest and subsequent journey to Rome; 2 Timothy 4:20 notes that Paul left Trophimus ill at Miletus.
