Ucal is named in Proverbs 30:1 as one of the recipients of the wisdom discourse of Agur son of Jakeh — 'The words of Agur son of Jakeh — an inspired utterance. This man's utterance to Ithiel: I am weary, God, but I can prevail.' The names Ithiel and Ucal may be personal names of students or disciples to whom Agur addressed his reflections, though some scholars read them as cryptic phrases rather than proper names. Beyond this single mention in the superscription of Proverbs 30, nothing further is known of Ucal.
