Uel was one of the Israelite men in the family of Bani who had taken foreign wives and agreed under Ezra's reform program to put them away, as recorded in the list of Ezra 10:34. His willingness to comply with Ezra's covenant renewal indicates participation in the broader community act of repentance and separation from foreign entanglements. Uel is known only from this single verse in the post-exilic reform narrative.
