Zattu was the ancestor of a family that returned to Jerusalem after the Babylonian exile.
Zattu was the ancestor of a large family that returned to Jerusalem from Babylonian captivity with Zerubbabel, numbering 945 members according to Ezra 2:8 (or 845 according to Nehemiah 7:13). The family is listed among the 'people of Israel' in the post-exilic census, indicating their successful reintegration into the restoration community. Some of Zattu's descendants later pledged to put away their foreign wives under Ezra's reform program (Ezra 10:27).
