Elders

20 ayat

Leaders in both Israel and the early church entrusted with governance, teaching, and pastoral care. In the Old Testament, elders governed cities and tribes (Exodus 18:13-26, Deuteronomy 19:12). In the New Testament, Paul appointed elders in every church (Acts 14:23, Titus 1:5). Qualifications include being 'above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach' (1 Timothy 3:2). Elders shepherd the flock (1 Peter 5:1-4), pray for the sick (James 5:14), and guard sound doctrine (Titus 1:9). Revelation also portrays twenty-four elders worshipping before God's throne (Revelation 4:4).
