Transfiguration
The event when Jesus' divine glory was visibly revealed on a mountaintop before Peter, James, and John. Matthew 17:2 describes it: 'His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light.' Moses and Elijah appeared, representing the Law and the Prophets, conversing with Jesus about his departure (Luke 9:31). A voice from the cloud declared, 'This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!' (Matthew 17:5). Second Peter 1:16-18 recalls the event as evidence that the apostles were 'eyewitnesses of his majesty.' The transfiguration confirmed Jesus' divine identity and previewed his resurrection glory.
