アンナスの娘

> · G2533H

A reference to the unnamed wife of Caiaphas, the high priest who condemned Jesus.

The daughter of Annas the high priest became the wife of Caiaphas, the ruling high priest before whom Jesus was tried on the night of his arrest (John 18:13). Although unnamed in the biblical text, her identity as Caiaphas's wife is implied by the statement that Jesus was first taken to Annas 'since Annas was the father-in-law of Caiaphas.' The family connection between Annas and Caiaphas meant that the high priestly office and its associated political power remained concentrated within a single family during this period.
