Abi-albon, also known as Abiel, was one of David's mighty men, an Arbathite.
Abi-albon the Arbathite, also identified as Abiel in the parallel list in 1 Chronicles 11:32, was numbered among the elite warriors known as David's 'thirty mighty men' (2 Samuel 23:31). The Arbathites were associated with Beth-arabah, a settlement near the Jordan Valley. These thirty formed a second tier of heroic warriors beneath the three most celebrated champions, and their deeds secured David's kingdom during its most turbulent years. The textual variant between Abi-albon and Abiel likely reflects a scribal difference in transmission.
