Old Testament

Admatha was one of the seven princes of Persia and Media who had access to King Ahasuerus's presence and held the highest positions in the kingdom.

Admatha was one of the seven princes of Persia and Media who held the highest positions of access to King Ahasuerus and served as the kingdom's chief advisors (Esther 1:14). These seven counselors were summoned after Queen Vashti refused the king's command, and Admatha and his colleagues advised the king to issue a royal decree replacing Vashti in order to preserve male authority throughout the empire. His name is Persian in origin and reflects the high-ranking Persian nobility who managed the vast Achaemenid court. Admatha appears only in this single scene and is known solely from the book of Esther.
