Old Testament

Adna was one of the Israelites who had married foreign women during the Babylonian exile and pledged to put away his foreign wife as part of Ezra's reforms.

Adna was one of the Israelite men from the family of Pahath-moab who had married foreign women during the exile and was listed among those who agreed to put away their foreign wives in response to Ezra's reforms (Ezra 10:30). The crisis of intermarriage addressed in Ezra 9–10 centered on the concern that foreign wives would lead Israel back into the idolatrous practices that had caused the exile. Adna's compliance with Ezra's directive represents the broader community response of repentance and covenant renewal that characterized the early restoration period. He is known only from this single reference.
