Exodus & Wilderness Tribe of Naphtali · H0299
Old Testament

Ahira, son of Enan, was the leader of the tribe of Naphtali during the Israelites' journey through the wilderness.

Ahira son of Enan was the appointed leader of the tribe of Naphtali during Israel's wilderness journey, representing his tribe in the census, the camp arrangement, and the dedication of the tabernacle (Numbers 1:15; 2:29; 7:78–83; 10:27). He enrolled 53,400 men from Naphtali for military service and presented the tribe's offering at the tabernacle dedication on the twelfth day. Naphtali camped on the north side of the tabernacle under the standard of Dan. Ahira represents the tribal leadership structure God established for the organization and governance of Israel during the formative wilderness period.
