Old Testament

Hakkoz was a priest who served during the reign of King David, as mentioned in the priestly divisions.

Hakkoz was the head of the seventh priestly division established by David for service in the sanctuary (1 Chronicles 24:10). His family is mentioned in Ezra 2:61 and Nehemiah 7:63 as one of the priestly families that returned from exile but could not prove their genealogy, and was therefore excluded from priestly service. Nehemiah 3:4 and 3:21 record that a descendant of Hakkoz, Meremoth son of Uriah, actively participated in repairing Jerusalem's walls, suggesting the family's status was eventually resolved.
