Ikkesh the Tekoite was the father of Ira, one of King David's mighty warriors and a leader in his army.
Ikkesh the Tekoite was the father of Ira, one of David's thirty mighty warriors and commander of the sixth monthly division of the royal army (2 Samuel 23:26; 1 Chronicles 27:9). Tekoa was a town in the hill country of Judah, later famous as the home of the prophet Amos. Ikkesh is known entirely through his son's military distinction, which brought honor to the Tekoite family in the Davidic court.
