Shiphrah, along with Puah, was a Hebrew midwife who feared God and disobeyed Pharaoh's command to kill male babies.

Shiphrah was one of the two Hebrew midwives, along with Puah, who defied Pharaoh's command to kill Hebrew male infants at birth (Exodus 1:15–21). Their courageous act of civil disobedience, grounded in their fear of God, preserved the Hebrew male population and was rewarded by God with descendants and households of their own. Their example stands as one of the earliest scriptural illustrations of faithful resistance to unjust authority.
