The title John the Baptist gave Jesus: 'Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!' (John 1:29). This image connects to the Passover lamb (Exodus 12), whose blood protected Israel from the angel of death, and to Isaiah 53:7, the servant 'led like a lamb to the slaughter.' Paul identifies Christ as 'our Passover lamb' (1 Corinthians 5:7). First Peter 1:18-19 says believers are redeemed 'with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.' Revelation features the Lamb 28 times — slain yet standing (5:6), worshipped (5:12-13), and reigning (17:14).
